Daydream
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day.

Going further with the marzipan. Since decoration is so important with a figure I started learning to make flowers. Not an easy job, especially roses, which are the most beautifull to me. I tried to create some edelweis and eyelet flowers. I took some pictures to show what is possible although that it ain’t perfect yet. A lot of exercising should change that in the future, although I cannot guarantee anything.

I guess I will stick to the normal figures and create flowers when it is really really necessary.

Creating marzipan figures becomes more fun when you start to know the techniques.  Starting from a ball of marzipan, moulding it like a piece of clay until there is a recognizable figure is fun.   The more you do it, the better it get’s.  This week was all about making animals.  Check them out.

It ain’t typical weather to produce anything chocolate or marsipan related.  After a week of high temperatures – at least for Belgium and its surroundings hell finally broke loose.  There was a huge thunderstorm when the lessons began, lightning struck somewhere in the neighbourhood and all electricity was history for an hour.  But that didn’t keep me from producing at least a few new marzipan figures with chocolate.  Funny how life goes on without electricity.

Today I started a new module of my chocolate course. Since almonds are used for making chocolates there is also a module with making marzipan figures combined with chocolate. Today was the first initiation with marzipan and the basic forms.

The first things that where made are fruits and there different forms and the colors. See for yourself.

As you can see these are still very basic forms.  Next week there will be more.
